Pediatric Eye Exam

Horvath Vision lane values the confidence and trust our patients have in our ability to care for their children. Many of our doctors and staff have children of our own and will treat your child as if he or she were a member of the family. You can be confident that your child will receive a comprehensive evaluation and appropriate, personalized, timely treatment. Our specialized pediatric eye care services include child friendly and age appropriate exams to assess visual acuity, eye tracking, and focusing skills, as well as to detect problems such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), lazy eye (amblyopia), crossed eyes (strabismus), color blindness, disease or medical conditions.

Symptoms of child vision problems may include:

  • Rubbing eyes
  • Squinting
  • Turning or tilting head
  • Losing their place or using a finger to follow along when reading
  • Moving head or mouthing words while reading
  • Headaches
  • Red eyes
  • Wandering eyes
  • Complaints of blurred vision
  • Difficulty in school or reading

Many disorders have no symptoms. ALL children need eye examinations at age 3. Depending upon the findings of your child’s eye exam visit, eyeglasses, contact lenses, myopia control, vision therapy, or additional treatment may be recommended.
